1 Discover the Best fish restaurants in Mayfair.
One of the nice things about writing about the hospitality scene in Mayfair is taking you, my reader, on a culinary journey through these historic streets. If you have been following my little wandering, you might of joined me in discovering Italian and Indian restaurants in Mayfair, now a real treat for Seafood lovers.
From the opulence of Scotts and Bentley’s to fish and chips at the Mayfair Chippy, Mayfair has something for all fish lovers. I’m a big seafood lover and, as always, hungry, so let us walk around Mayfair and discover some amazing seafood.
2 Scotts Mayfair
Step back to 1851 when a young fishmonger named John Scott opened his oyster warehouse in Haymarket’s Coventry Street. This humble beginning marked the genesis of a culinary institution synonymous with exquisite British seafood – Scott’s Oyster Rooms.
For over a century, the oyster warehouse thrived, its reputation spreading far beyond the bustling streets of Mayfair. In 1967, the time came for a grand move to its current home at 20 Mount Street, a location that perfectly encapsulates the restaurant’s elegance and sophistication.
In 2005, under the visionary leadership of Richard Caring, Caprice Holdings acquired Scott’s, breathing new life into this iconic establishment. With a meticulous refurbishment orchestrated by the renowned Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, Scott’s embarked on a journey to reclaim its rightful place as the pinnacle of London’s seafood scene.
In November 2006, Scott’s reopened its doors, and the world took notice. The restaurant’s transformation was spectacular, its interiors exuding an aura of refined luxury that perfectly complemented its exquisite cuisine.
Today, Scott’s stands tall, a testament to culinary excellence and unwavering commitment to tradition. Its menu showcases the finest seafood sourced from the British Isles and beyond, each crafted with meticulous precision and passion.
