2 Introduction

HR Higgins

Welcome to our best cafes in Mayfair. I think we have something for everybody: a Cafe in a church, a cafe thats been in Mayfair since 1942, and a few that serve cocktails alongside the eggs and one whose executive chef has a Michelin Star

Defining what constitutes a Cafe can be tricky these days, but we worked on the following criteria: a place that serves hot and cold beverages, a selection of breakfasts, brunch, and light meals and snacks.

It should be a social  meeting space where people can unwind and relax with friends  but also place that you feel comfortable entering alone

With that established, put your feet up with your favourite brew and read about our top eleven cafes in Mayfair.

Entree Bakrery
Fresh breads and sandwiches

Entree is an Artisan bakery with its heart and soul in Tbilisi. In fact, they have over 20 branches in Tbilisi and Baku, so authenticity is guaranteed in this branch in Bruton Place.

So what does Entree have to offer, to be honest its like most other backeries and cafe’s,serving coffees and teas, sandwiches and pastries, but add Georgian pies and cakes and you have it. This is a lovely place to enjoy a coffee and a bite to each, the food is freshley made and appetising.

Read a full review of Entree here.

7 Everbean

In the heart of Mayfair, tucked away in a charming London laneway, lies Everbean, a neighborhood gem born from a love affair with coffee and the lively Melbourne café scene. Jess and Onur Sav, after eight sun-drenched years Down Under, returned to London with a yearning to bring a slice of that vibrant coffee culture back home.

Their quest began with the hunt for the location.. A simple stroll through Mayfair’s hidden alleyways led them to a hidden gem, a space brimming with potential. It was in this very spot that the dream of Everbean blossomed.

Built on a bedrock of quality ingredients, carefully sourced from trusted suppliers, Everbean is more than just a café; it’s a haven for good coffee, warm smiles, and genuine connection. Jess’s mum’s homemade scones (a delectable mainstay for the first few years!) hint at the heart that goes into every cup and pastry. And of course, no Everbean experience is complete without the friendly chat with the barista, a daily ritual that eases you out of the day’s hustle and bustle.

8 Hideaway

Lobster roll at Hideaway

Hideaway has a good perdigree for food and drinks coming from the same group that own the Michelin starred Hide and the award winning wine store Hedonism. Hidaway’s menu has been curated by excutive Michelin chef Ollie Dabbous.

Hideaway Mayfair is a chic cafe with outdoor seats serving tea, coffee, wine & sweets, plus elevated toast & even caviar dishes.

100 Mount St, London W1K 2TG

9 District

Hidden in a lovely mews street behind Claridge Hotel, you will find this charming Cafe. District serves a full beverage menu (including cocktails) with an inventive breakfast/brunch menu with a nod to healthy eating. Interestingly, District is our second Cafe on the list to be modelled by the Australian cafe scene.

District also ticks many sustainability boxes and is applying for BCorp certification, which is no easy process and will test any company’s sustainability ethos.

H.R.Higgins

HR Higgins
The lovely HR Higgins

Step into the enchanting world of HR Higgins, where the rich aroma of coffee has been captivating Londoners since 1942! Yes, dear reader, you read that correctly – this charming coffee haven began brewing its magic right in the heart of the Second World War. Imagine this: Harold Rupert Higgins, the visionary behind it all, founded the beloved coffee nook and bestowed it with his own name. Nestled on Duke Street since 1986, HR Higgins has been serving joy in every cup for decades, and continues to be a favorite destination for coffee lovers all over the city.

HR Higgins has evolved into a cherished fixture in London’s coffee scene, renowned for its top-notch blends and personalized service. Keeping it all in the family, the torch has been passed down through the generations, and today, Rupert Higgins, Harold’s grandson, carries on the legacy.

As the years roll on, the commitment to quality remains unwavering. HR Higgins Mayfair still roasts its coffee, blends an array of teas, and crafts delicious sandwiches and snacks to accompany the cup of happiness. For those who appreciate tradition paired with exceptional coffee, they’ve just stumbled upon their new favorite spot – and did it mention that HR Higgins proudly holds a well-deserved Royal warrant?

79 Duke St, London W1K 5AS

11 Lali Cafe

Lali Cafe

Lali is situated in the trendy Bruton Place, rubbing shoulders with cafes, bars, restaurants and the old favourite pub and restaurant, The Guinea Grill. This cafe is bound to be in Mayfair; their website states their ethos is to bring back the experience of the Bohemian culture of Mayfair. The menu is planets away from your average “greasy spoon cafe” serving Yellowfin Tuna tartar and lobster rolls; as you probably guessed, they have a cocktail and wine menu.

33A Bruton Place, London W1J 6NP

12 Caffe in

Board outside Caffe In
Caffe In

This busy Cafe is in the hub of Shepherd Market; as the sign outside says, they are proud to be independent and serve good, healthy food. I find myself in Shepherd’s Market frequently, and like all good Cafes, Caffe in is a busy place and the heart of the market community. The menu offers something for everyone with plenty of breakfast choices also serve lunches and open for early dinners.

3 Shepherd Street, Mayfair, London W1J 7HL

13 Badiani (Mercato Mayfair)

Badiani cafe
Stunning stained glas windows mercato mayfair

Badiani is situated in Marcato Mayfair sustainable foodhall. Mercato could be described as one big Cafe but for this feature we concentrate on Badiani which serves a full range of regional coffees and teas. Add to,that cakes and pastries and famed for their ice creams. You can see a full review on Mercato Mayfair here.

St. Mark’s Church, N Audley St, London W1K 6ZA

14 Benugo

Benugo Cafe in Mayfair

Tucked away on the elegant Curzon Street in Mayfair lies a haven from the stresses of the day. This hidden gem is a café, and not just any café, but a sanctuary of warmth, character, and culinary delights. We added Benugo to our list because although it is part of a large chain of restaurants it retains an independant feel.

Stepping inside is like entering a friend’s living room. The space, though petite, brims with personality. Mismatched vintage furniture whispers of a curated past, while pops of colour and quirky trinkets add a touch of whimsy. Sunlight streams through the windows, casting a warm glow on the exposed brick walls and inviting you to settle in for a spell.

But the charm of this café extends far beyond its aesthetics. The aroma of freshly baked cakes and bread mingles with the enticing sizzle of toasted sandwiches, creating a symphony of scents that awakens the senses and ignites the appetite.

14 Curzon Street, Mayfair, W1J 7HN

So that concludes our look at Cafes in in Mayfair, as expected being Mayfair these are no ordinary Cafe’s, but Mayfair is not the norm and the cafe society reflects that. However in the above listings are plenty of value for money options mixed within the glitz and glamour in one of Londons most affulent areas. Please check out website for a complete guide to the hospitality scene in Mayfair and surrounding areas.
