Hedonism wines select their Favourite sippers for Autumn
Autumn is a very busy time and stressful for winemakers; the grapes are harvested, and the winemakers pray for a good harvest. A lot of work goes into getting the grapes to harvest, and thats is before they start the production process. For consumers, it’s a far easier process; however, choosing a good wine to buy can be difficult. So that leads me nicely into our Five Best Wines for Autumn feature; as always, we have had help from expert Sherry Rose Stollar at the best wine store in the UK Hedonism Wines; read about Sherry’s five top picks that we should be drinking this Autumn.
Over to you Sherry;
“It seems as though autumn snuck up on us, and summer is but a distant memory. As the temperatures cool, our team recommends some of our favourite autumn sippers.“
Champagne, France £69.90
From one of our favourite Champagne producers, Bruno Paillard, the Blanc de Noirs is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes sourced from four Grand Crus. Utilising only the juice from the initial pressing, this champagne is designed to epitomise the rich and precise character of Pinot Noir from the northern crus.
Darren Smith & Raul Moreno Palomino 2022
White wine from Jerez, Spain £36.00
Through his nomadic winemaking project, The Finest Wines Available to Humanity, Darren Smith produces one-off wines from locally indigenous grape varieties with emerging winemakers around the world. This 2022 Palomino, produced in collaboration with sommelier-turned-winemaker Raúl Moreno, is from a single plot of clone 84 Palomino.
Kumeu River Hunting Hill Chardonnay 2020
White Wine, Auckland, New Zealand £52.00
Kumeu River, located in New Zealand`s Auckland region, has garnered a reputation for producing high-quality Chardonnays. The Hunting Hill vineyard benefits from a unique microclimate and volcanic soils, contributing to the wine`s complexity. This Chardonnay undergoes fermentation in French oak barrels, allowing it to develop nuances of oak without overwhelming its fruit character.
Turley Pesenti Vineyard Zinfandel 2021
Red Wine, California £55.00
Established in 1993 by Larry Turley in Napa Valley, Turley Wine Cellars emerged as a result of Turley`s desire for a smaller, more intimately scaled production. Pesenti is an estate-owned vineyard with certified organic status, dating back to plantings in the 1920s on ancient marine calcareous soils.
Red Wine, Bordeaux, France. £175.00
Calon-Ségur is one of the stars of the Saint-Estèphe appellation and was categorised as a third growth in the famous 1855 classification of Bordeaux châteaux. The 2000 vintage is considered one of the top vintages in recent history and is drinking beautifully now.
