Passion Fruit Martini

Learn how to make the classic Passion Fruit Martini

February 13, 2024

My Favourite Cocktail by Massimiliano Scaglione, General Manager Aubaine Selfridges

Today, we welcome Massimiliano Scaglione to the Mayfair Foodie website with his favourite cocktail, Passion Fruit Martini, with a champagne shot—cocktail decadence.

Passion Fruit Martini (also known as Porn Star Martini)

So, I will pass you to Massimiliano to describe his favourite cocktail;

“Its origins date back to the early 2000s. The Passion Fruit Martini was created by a famous bartender, Douglas Ankrah, here in London. However, many believe that the true place of origin of this cocktail is South Africa.

The recipe is very simple: Vanilla Vodka, passion fruit purée (we are using it instead of Passoa passion fruit liqueur, which is very sweet for our taste), lime juice, a touch of sugar syrup and a shot of Porte noir champagne. It`s shaken with many ice cubes and double strained into a chilled Martini glass.

Garnished with half a passion fruit and an edible viola flower.

This cocktail, due to its simplicity and, at the same time, complexity of flavours, can be aperitive, drunk during the meal or perfect to finish the meal instead of a dessert.

You can drink the champagne, sip it, or even mix it with the martini glass to enlarge the complexity of the cocktail with a beautiful touch to the chardonnay range of taste.

It is true, though; commonly, it`s a very feminine drink for the many, but trust me, I have never seen a macho stepping back from it, disliking it.”

I want to thank Massimiliano for sharing his favourite cocktail recipe. Try making it at home using the ingredients listed below or visit Aubaine for a taste. If you’re interested in learning more about Aubaine, be sure to read our exclusive interview with Hani Nakkach, the CEO.

We’re also curious about your go-to cocktail, so feel free to message us. Additionally, you can find more impressive cocktail recipes on our website.
