Glamour, Caviar, and Cool Vibes
Sometimes an email drops into your inbox that just screams yeeees! One such email arrived inviting me to the Friends of Kaspia evening. The email started with “We’re thrilled to introduce you to something a little decadent, a little exclusive—and entirely delicious.” So obviously I’m hooked. Reading further down the email, I see the mention of chicken nuggets. Now, given that Caviar Kaspia’s signature dish is a baked potato topped with caviar, I have an inkling what’s in store for us.
By the way, if you read my review of the meal at Kaspia, you will know this was no ordinary baked potato.
From the moment we arrived at 8:00 PM, the atmosphere was buzzing. The bar, bathed in soft, golden light, buzzed with a chic crowd of London’s food and culture scene. The DJ was already spinning cool, eclectic mixes—think soulful house with a touch of retro, my wife came up with this line, which I think is rather good as I’m more of a music dinosaur —I have to admit the music set the perfect backdrop for the evening. It was the kind of music that makes you want to sway with a drink in hand, and we happily obliged.

Speaking of drinks, the bar was serving up a trio of temptations: crisp champagne, classic gin and tonics made with the Australian Papa Salt Crystal Gin, and a signature cocktail a Papa Salt Paloma that showcased the same gin’s bright, coastal notes. We started with champagne and then a cocktail, a refreshing blend that balanced citrusy zest with a subtle saline kick—a nod to Papa Salt’s seaside inspiration. It was the perfect companion, obviously, as we mingled with a glass in hand.
Then came the star of the show: the canapes of chicken nuggets. These weren’t your average nuggets, mind you. Each golden, crispy bite was crowned with a generous dollop of garlic mayo and Caviar Kaspia’s finest, a playful bite yet luxurious, and decadent twist that I’m told by people who know these sorts of things has taken social media by storm. The contrast of the crunchy nugget and the creamy, briny caviar was pure indulgence—comfort food elevated to an art form. I couldn’t help but smile as I savoured each one, marvelling at how something so simple could feel so extravagant.
As the night unfolded, the crowd grew livelier, fuelled by the DJ’s seamless transitions and the steady flow of drinks. Conversations sparkled, ranging from the latest culinary trends to the allure of Caviar Kaspia’s storied heritage. It was clear that Friends of Kaspia wasn’t just an event—it was a vibe, a monthly ritual designed to celebrate creativity, connection, and, of course, exquisite flavours.

Final thoughts as we walked back to enjoy the pleasure of London’s tube network. As well as being a seriously good restaurant, Friends of Kaspia is a bold, delicious addition to London’s nightlife, blending high-end indulgence with a refreshingly unpretentious spirit. If you’re lucky enough to snag an invite, don’t miss it. And if you do, be sure to try those nuggets—they’re worth the hype.
